On the day of the martyrdom of the tenth Shiite Imam, we read an instructive story from his life.
He was the Imam of Medina.
He constantly wrote letters to Mutawakkil:
“If you want this place, get Ali ibn Muhammad out of Medina!”
Mutawakel accepted his words. When the Imam wanted to leave Medina, he came to the Imam and said, “If you complain to the Caliph, I will burn your life and kill your children and slaves.”
The Imam calmly turned to him and said:
“I, like you, will not destroy anyone’s reputation. I will complain to the one who created me and you and the caliph.”
He was embarrassed. He lowered his head and begged me to forgive him.
